That is coolio! Can you translate that into an age range for those of us with dumbness? In the UK it would be the first three years of secondary school (11 - 14) I think? Or it would be if we had maths and physics; after Brexit they were removed from the curriculum for taking valuable brain power away from The X-Factor and not being useful for anything whoops, forgot people's grades look weird. It'd be 13-15-year olds.

gah I'm still going to bitch about not understanding this forum software but whatever
Today we went for a walk in the Malvern Hills and the dog accidentally barked at some cows and managed to somehow bite an electric fence which was simultaneously hilarious and adorably sad. Also I touched her head while she was asleep while watching Ocean's 13 and I'm not convinced it was any less traumatic than being electrocuted. Life is hard when you are a smol Cocker Spaniel WHO IS THE ONLY ONE AWARE OF HOW MUCH DANGER THERE IS EVERYWHERE OH GOD YOU KNOW THERE'S A CAT THERE HOLY SHIT

After two days of my new job as a teacher: I'm terrified. Not of teaching or anything, that's fun, but I have a lot of planning work to do (especially for physics) that the person I came in after... uh. Didn't do, it seems. Or maybe I've just not found it, his desk is a mess. q_q

Tonight, my local board game café (I've yet to ruin anybody in there with Sirlin Games but it's on the to-do list) is observing Talk Like A Pirate Day, which was Monday, but they're closed on Mondays. They have a call for people to wear outfits. I have some old renfaire garb which I got when I was trim, but then I got fat. But now I'm trim again so it fits so I guess I'm excited to wear it! I lost one of my faire shoes somehow (?) so I guess I'll just have to hope no one notices my everyday footwear instead.

Hi guys! I'm moving from St. Louis back to my hometown of Schenectady, NY starting on Sunday. Pretty much undoing my "Big Life Change" from last year, although I would not say that I failed to make life progress of sorts - my time here in the midwest has actually been really great! I intend to continue living on my own away from my parents, because independence rocks!

Guys, Nevermore is a fun game with an Edgar Allen Poe theme! You can turn people into ravens and then they can peck your eyes out, turning you into a raven as well!
In other news, I have a lot of threads to port over here but my desire to edit them is going to really stretch that project out. Also, I've been thinking about running a Yomi tournament, but I've never run a tournament at all so I don't want to fuck it up. Time to make another thread about how to run a tournament and steal everyone's tech.

My partner and I love Nevermore! We haven't played it too much because, you know, three player minimum. If we're hanging out with people who don't board game a lot, we tend to play Betrayal at House on the Hill instead.
Speaking of my partner, she just got a full-time teaching job a few towns over, which is exciting! We're seeing about moving to make her commute shorter, but I don't drive and the bus system would make my commute absolute hell, so, we'll see.
Oh, Twenty-Seven if you read this post don't tell mle I spilled the beans a little early . She doesn't want to tell anyone until after she's officially confirmed by the school board, which is an absolute formality.

OMG, I would go the complete opposite direction in terms of those two games. I find Betrayal at House on the Hill more insufferable for people who don't play board games whereas Nevermore is pretty easy to pick up. Also, I have the character expansion for Nevermore and that adds another dimension that's pretty fun, especially if you really like Poe. When all is said and done, however, I think Betrayal might be more captivating/engaging for people who don't play board games regularly. I personally find it a little bit clunky and the rules are ludicrously vague in places.
Secret congratulations to your partner!

Character expansion seems fun! Drafting and valuation in Nevermore is harder to explain than just, like, exploration and stat improvement in Betrayal, I think. Especially when there's the whole "oh and if you become a Raven you can keep playing but the rules almost completely change" bit. Although, there was one girl we played Betrayal with recently, who became the traitor her first time playing and almost had a panic attack. So I left the Heroes to go help her learn how to do that and gave my character to my partner. She did beg us to play it with her again next time we hung out, so it was all good
