Bomber678 I see you likin' By this evening/afternoon, I should have successfully set up my dad's old turntable (which I have on "permanent loan") with some new speakers and stuff. I think I am approaching peak hipster.

Being a teacher is hard, guys. Kids are SO DUMB. But I like'em anyway. At least most of them... -_-

I occasionally help out with a kids karate class and can confirm, kids are dumb. The boys anyway. The girls all generally pay attention and get everything right on the first or second try. The boys spin around, fall on the floor and make dirt angels.

Grading tests is fuckin' scary because it's so subjective. I liked college. I got a point score, that point score determined a grade, and that was that. Apprently in lower education I'm not allowed to do that or w/e. Bah. Humbug.

Curious that the board game cafe doesn't have a license to serve alcohol. The only board game cafe I've been to sells one million kinds of craft beers.
I need to do some IRL socializing, I'm getting close to living in Pittsburgh for a month and I've talked to zero people outside my workplace and my gf's workplace. . .

I wish I lived near a board game cafe! I would love it. I wonder if I can talk my wealthier friends into starting a business and letting me be a host or something. #nepotism

Our café doesn't serve alcohol either, because it's a coffee shop, and if it served alcohol it'd be a bar imo
We just learned that they do allow BYOB, which was a surprise to me. Not that I'd be interested in that. If I want to drink and play board games I'll do that at home instead of in public, hahah

I asked them about this when I first went in there, and it's something they are thinking about down the road. However, they have only recently opened and it's in a converted pub (which is super cool), but the pub had a bit of a dodgy reputation. I think they want to make sure there's a clean break with any antisocial stuff hanging over from the old pub before they start serving alcohol. For now, they have a fantastic tea, coffee and homemade soft drink range, which is fine by me. Plenty of pubs around if I want beer. Which I think I do now.

So I finally made it over here!
Doing fantastic over here. Just had this massive get-together weekend with a bunch of friends from college, and it turned out to be a really powerful and awesome weekend--lots of connection being made. My heart is greatly lifted, despite the lack of a regular job.

Oh yeah, Plum, if you really want to find out if Australians are real, I will be in Britain for nearly three weeks. I'm even visiting a friend nearish to Corby so you can always come find out while I'm around.

Basically, we have a strict one-in-one-out policy; someone is only allowed into the country so long as someone else leaves it I was hoping to get down for the meet up at the end of October, but life sucks

Played Innovation with three friends last night, never played it before. Was interesting, lot of moving parts, playing it in a group like that made decisions very difficult. Curious how it plays one-on-one, which is my preferred method of gaming anyhow. Hope to get it out in that way sometime.

Scymrian, I think our game groups are syncing up since I am also aware of Innovation. I think it's a fun little game and I like to let it drag on and see how ridiculous shit gets in the end. Unfortunately, I play with some people who prefer to try and win. WANKERS.

I love trying to win, myself. That's why I'm in this specific community, ultimately. But it's hard to figure out how to win a game like that when you've never played before and have fundamental misunderstandings on several of the rules. Working on it, though!

Big fan of Innovation, btw. It's a great game that makes me feel like I'm playing a CCG without having to invest in the deck. It's got that same "combo abilities into victory" style. Unrelated: am now hunting for work at older, more established companies, and that "10 years of past employment history" is really really annoying, considering how many small jobs I've had at this point.

That sounds like a terrible pain, and one I'll hopefully never have to deal with. My partner is currently dreading income tax season, as she's had five different employers this calendar year.

Mostly it's bothersome because college me did a poor job of record-keeping, so now I'm hunting through my archived school e-mails to find employment dates.

BOARD GAMES? HELL YEAH.
I played Lords of Waterdeep last weekend. Hoo boy what a good game that is. God damn. Except I'm at most mildly interested in the actual Lords, they don't seem to contribute all that much other than "You got unlucky with the revealed quests so you get fewer points". That's a bit lame, I think.
