If it's September 14 where you are, give me a hand in wishing Southpaw a happy birthday!
Also, it's been a year since the day we first met in person, which is also pretty cool...

Happy birthday SPH!
As an update to my life, literally nothing of note has happened in the last month or so! Still working from home, still wearing a mask, still avoiding going out where possible

Happy belated birthday SPH!
So, I finally caved, and let someone buy a set of my pixel art Arkham Horror standees.
So that meant spraying, gluing and cutting 47 characters. And the dude was nice enough to actually raise my initial offer (I first proposed $1 CAD per investigator, then $1.75 CAD) to $100 USD (works about $2.20 CAD per investigator.)
So, I used that to make a little stock of 10 more copies of each expansion set. Aiming to sell around when Arkham Nights would've happened.
Otherwise, working on sprites for Barkham Horror this week.

And Barkham is done. Will probably print, glue and cut this Sunday.

So, the store I work at made the local news. Mostly about how hot tubs are a very hot commodity during this pandemic.
Slightly related fun fact, couple months ago a crime syndicate actually pulled a heist on the factory in Alberta, pretending to be a trucking company. Black market hot tubs, who woulda thought?
I've made a bunch of Arkham standees, with the intent of selling them on Etsy earlier this October, except I've been stuck for weeks trying to come up with a store name. Now it's the last 2 weeks of October and I still haven't done it...

We're still alive, no worries...
The Bunneh and I are pleased that there will be a regime change, but we're still hoping for a smoother transition than what we're already getting.
It's been a year since I first drove 2 1/2 hours to do my laundry in Albany. Now I just walk my laundry to the room next door, because I'm already in Albany. A lot has happened in a year, but you already know some of it anyway.
I got a new phone! I went from a Google Pixel 2 to a Pixel 5. I had my reasons, and updated hardware wasn't exactly at the top of the list. I've gone from charging the phone about once or twice a day to being able to go two days before charging it again. It's funny, because I had already ordered the phone and it had been shipped when I had a DoorDash delivery go wrong, and customer service said there was an issue with my phone not doing the map properly, and that's why the driver was mapped to my home address despite being given Southpaw's address, literally across the street, where I was located. So I haven't tried it out yet, but maybe it'll work better. I know my Pokemon Go works again, and with the better battery life, I'd be more willing to go on Pokemon walks in the neighborhood. But... it's getting cold outside, and I'm a whiny b**** in regards to being not-warm. So he bought me Ring Fit Adventures! And, I know it sounds self-deprecating, but believe me when I say that I'm actually somewhat amazed that I can get the leg strap around my fat thigh. It's not comfortable, but it has stayed put while I walked around a bit to try it out. I haven't played the game yet because it needed to update my Joycons, and my right Joycon was low on battery power, so it wouldn't do it.
On the topic of how things have changed in a year... we've watched more movies together! I've actually gotten him to watch movies! Because Halloween, we watched Practical Magic, The Craft, and High Spirits last month. We didn't watch V For Vendetta on the fifth of this month, but we might still watch it soon. The presidential debates were also a great source of entertainment, also more horrific than anything else I could have chosen.

Oh yes, I hope all of my American friends are safe and well. Hopefully this is light at the end of a very long, dark, bleak tunnel!
I signed up to Crunchy Roll! I'm on the two week trial, mostly so I could watch Yuri on Ice (so so good!), but I'm going through the Lupin III back catalogue. I'll also watch JoJo s3 and s4 and Cowboy Bebop. I've heard good things about Food Wars as well. Any other must see recommendations?

Things are fairly routine here. Still working from home. Our office opened up at the end of September but it's voluntary to go back in. They just have it for people who need to have in person meetings or want to get away from their kids or whatever. You have to sign up ahead of time and it is limited to 20% capacity or something like that. I'm not sure if we will ever have a mandatory in the office every day of the week rule again. Someone in the lab where my wife works tested positive. I'll probably try to get tested tomorrow just to see. I don't really have any symptoms though and from what I was googling it seems like it might be hard for me to get a test if I'm not actually sick. I have a little bit of a scratchy throat but it's probably just from the air being dryer from the weather changing and turning the heat on. The numbers are getting really bad here though, so it will probably be a rough winter. Been playing some Gloomhaven online with the friend group. It sucks we can't continue our other campaign but it feels good to at least play some. Plus it's a lot easier to unlock stuff. I've been trying to play the Cragheart, makes me miss the Mindthief. I'll at least stick it out until level 4 and then maybe change. Otherwise not really too much new stuff going on in my life. Had to start giving our cat insulin again, she's doing well though. I splurged a bit and bought some of the Castlevania games I was missing so my collection is almost complete, besides a few really rare things like this that don't feel that important to me. It's more of a playable collection than a sit on the shelf collection, although I do have a few shelf only items. We just rewatched Cowboy Bebop recently. Mushishi is probably my other most favorite anime. I need to watch Death Note eventually, we started it and thought is was intriguing but then got side tracked. Good Games to you too Southpaw Hare.

It's been so long since I've posted here. The big notes are that I started a job that I've really been digging about a year and a month ago at a place called TownNews. We basically provide a couple CMS (content management systems) options that are specifically geared towards newspaper/media organizations. I do technical customer support over the phone and I feel pretty comfortable doing that. I've gotten so much positive feedback from customers, which I adore. I've also had a couple people tell me that when they call, they will hang up if they don't get me.
I am also happy to report that this place offered me the highest wage I've ever had at $18/hour. My previous highest wage was $14/hour so this was a very significant jump for me. It's helped me keep my debt in check and also donate money to the mutual aid projects where I live. On top of that, I just received a raise for doing a phenomenal job! According to some quick math, it's about a $3.63/hour raise, which I think is very significant! Now I should be able to pay my debt down even more quickly!
Finally, I have temporarily moved back in with my family because I couldn't stand to be completely isolated for another year or however long this pandemic will continue. Since my family has been quarantining pretty hard, we all agreed that it would be okay if they came and picked me up and then I just stayed with them for the next few months. It's been nice to work at home with my mom.
I hope everyone here is doing well.

That's really nice to hear - a friend doing well is like a little oasis in this grim desert of a year! Not much happening in my life, although the UK has now moved back into localised lockdowns and my area is tier 2 - not full lockdown, but people are staying home where possible and advised to restrict contact to 6 people or less. I've not seen my parents for a couple of months but I speak to them pretty often and I'm a huge introvert so physical isolation is perfectly fine. On the downside, Brexit is coming and I'm already on day 20 of my chocolate advent calendar

My job sent out a care package to everyone that had some socks, a blanket, a candle, and some other stuff I can't remember without looking. We have a break until next year so I have time to work on some of my own projects. I switched out our kitchen faucet this last weekend because it was starting to leak pretty badly. Plumbing work is kind of annoying but it's nice to have it done. December was a busy work month but it seems like next year will be more stable; and I'll be working on larger projects instead of several small ones at the same time. So looking forward to that.
I bought some of you games from your wishlists on Steam. If I didn't get you anything it's either because we aren't friends on there or your wishlist is empty, or I hate you.
My grandmother on my mom's side is not doing well. I'll find out more details later today.

Hi everyone. Merry Christmas! It hasn't been a good week. Luna and I, as well as at least one of my roommates, got sick earlier this week. I got it especially bad, with a moderate fever and chills, and had to do a whole lot of sleeping with NyQuil in order to feel better. We got a test back today, Christmas morning, confirming that it's COVID, so we're all infected. Not the greatest holiday situation in the world. We're all getting better, though. It doesn't look like it's doing any real harm to any of us, thankfully. We're all staying away from everyone and making sure it doesn't spread any further because of us.

Ah, I was just about to post about having the Rona!
Yeah, the lab results were a bit confusing yesterday, and when trying to get some answers, one person said that it does sound like Covid. I had a phone call today to confirm that it was a positive test result, and I'm waiting on a call from the health department as a follow-up.
To me, this feels like a regular cold with nasal/sinus congestion and coughing. Of course, the common cold is a coronavirus, so my body is probably like, "This is what we do, right? This is how we attack it?"
I'm losing time from work, and I don't have paid sick leave... but I have to believe that that's where I picked up the virus, and I'm not sure if anyone else is out sick, but I'll find out in a week or so. Meanwhile, I'm playing a lot of Yakuza 7, though instead of changing character jobs as you do in the game, I should probably consider changing my own job to something more at-home.
I'm not going to lie... after Southpaw got sick, and for how quickly he got sick after I did, I was worried it was Covid, and just at that thought, I had a lot to unpack. It felt like I failed, like we failed somehow in trying to stay safe. I worried about my mortality, but the doctor who saw me was convinced that I would be one of the survivors. Still, despite my best efforts, I got my friends infected, and it almost spread further than that.
Some of the positives have been a significant loss of weight for me (more rest and more agua, I swear, have been doing wonders), and... I don't know, that I've survived a week so far? Christmas kinda sucked, not just because that's when I got my results, but also I was away from Southpaw who's been in worse shape than I've been in, and that was my doing.
Don't mind me talking down about myself... Southpaw has forgiven me, and I know it's a matter of going forward from here, but I do feel somewhat responsible for what happened. We might have been living our lives in fear for the past few months, to the point where I've had dreams where I realize I'm not wearing a mask and I'm afraid of catching something... but in the past week, I ended up having a dream where I was conscious that I shouldn't be out and about because I was sick. It's affected us that much, that it really does feel like our efforts weren't good enough, that we failed.. that I failed.
Well... tomorrow is another day of trying to heal and get through this, whether that means physically or emotionally. One day at a time.

Don't blame yourself - you have to eat and that means money. So long as you took every precaution when working then the fault lies with your employers (and ultimately your government). I know so many people who desperately want to just bunker down but simply can't afford to and have to run the gauntlet of the commute and office. I consider myself hugely lucky that I can work from home.
I really hope you're both past the worst of it and recovering and get to enjoy some of the holidays at least <3

As a non-American watching from overseas, I've just sat stunned all week. Not that I wanted a gunfight or anything, but the police literally invited them in and took selfies? When women were protesting and set foot on the STEPS over the summer, they were treated like terrorists. Not to mention the police reaction to the BLM protests. I can only assume that these police officers were the ones that couldn't get the day off, but decided to join in anyway

I think one of the weirdest parts for me is how normalized it feels. Like it's super historic for all kinds of reasons but at the same time it's kind of like what I expect from people in like a "Oh it's just crazy people being crazy again" kind of way. Not that there isn't a lot of shock and surprise and a bunch of other feelings but I'm surprised at how much of the first feeling I have.
My grandma on my mom's side had surgery last week. It was kind of iffy because she has a weak heart (she had a pacemaker that should have gotten the battery replaced like five years ago but she decided not to), but she came through it all okay and is feeling good.
Still working from home for the foreseeable future. They sent an email out saying there are no concrete plans on going back to the office and they would try to give us at least a 90 day notice once there is. I've been doing alright from home but I can feel myself getting a little lazier or at least worse at focusing on working during work hours. So boundaries have started to blur a bit more because I still have to put in the time to do the work. I got a referral for an appointment to see if I get a ADD diagnosis later this month. Maybe try some medicine, we'll see how it goes. Looking back at my childhood it seems kind of obvious and always something I suspected/assumed but dealt with well enough for it to not be too big of an issue. But lately I've recognized my work starting to feel like assignments in highschool did. (I did very little work in school, I finished with a 1.86 GPA) I would think about the work and how I needed to do it, but actually putting the pen to paper is incredibly difficult for some reason. Like my brain already did the interesting part and doesn't care about the rest. There is more of a block than that but it is hard to put words to. I had a lot of the same challenge with the projects I was on last month. Even right now, I've figured out what I was stuck on with this Angular project and now I need to just convert a csv file over to json and clean it up a bit, then make some dropdowns populate their options from it, and I spent all afternoon not doing it so I'll have to wake up and try to get it done in the morning. Anyway, I could keep going about this but we'll see how my appointment goes and I'll let you all know what happens.
Started playing Disco Elysium over my break, good game so far, looking forward to trying it again with different stats. Planning on playing Sekiro afterwards. Been working on updating my old Gloomhaven perk calculator too, hopefully I can get those updates all done this month.

Yeah, Kim is definitely way more likeable. I'm only on the morning of the second day and just got the body down so we'll see how the rest goes. Probably won't get a chance to play it much the rest of this month because of work. I would like to be able to finish it though because I bought a new TV and games look pretty on it, and there are several I want to play soon.

For... shooting a movie? Seems that way. Yes, I landed a background extra role! Filming wraps this week, and I'll let you know more when I can! TODAY'S THE DAY! If it's the 15th where you are, check Hulu for The Ultimate Playlist of Noise. We might watch the whole thing sometime this weekend, but I think I might see if it'll drop at midnight so I can find myself... Edit: 1:04:08, give or take, is the start of the scene I filmed... But looks like I'm not in it! I'm in the MTA Customer Service area, and I'd be to the right of the person seated on the orange chair. That room used to be the reception lobby for my first employer, Sutherland Global, and their stuff was still on the walls, to some extent.

I hope everyone is doing well and none of our American friends are struggling with the cold and power problems. At least 2021 has continued the streak of something unbelievable happening every single month - I was starting to think things were finally calming down.
Not much happening in my life, still in lockdown, still wfh. Still doing all hobbies via Zoom etc. My parents have both been vaccinated now which makes me feel a lot happier, plus the CEO of my company unexpectedly gave us all a 10% bonus as thank you for the most stressful year in our history (we're a Europe-wide parcel delivery firm so covid + brexit led to a crazy twelve months). Thanks Mr CEO, that was surprisingly human of you!

Still alive, and holy crap it's halfway through February. January felt like it took forever, due to a provincial lockdown that happened between Dec 26th to Feb 9th.
Game rotation is looking like this:
Free Time: Code Vein
Rotates every other week: Streets of Rogue and revisiting Bloodborne
Saturday Night: Switches between Monster Prom and Monster Camp every other week.
Arkham Horror LCG campaigns are finishing up. One team is all the Starter Decks in The Circle Undone. Another is taking the Barkham Horror investigators on a tour of the Standalone scenarios. And one team of Parallel Skids & Daisy doing Return to the Dunwich Legacy, which will finish up tomorrow. Also a blind run of The Innsmouth Conspiracy, the current cycle, with Sister Mary and Trish Scarborough.
My DM is back to continue our D&D 5E campaign. Don't believe I ever mentioned my original Half-Troll Barbarian died. So did the Munchskin thing and rolled the same character, but different. A Half-Troll Barbarian... but the twist being, since the original was characterized as being paranoid of disguised undead orcs and any strange dungeon might be Eldritch, this Half-Troll Barbarian is multiclassed as a Warlock with Great Old One as a Pact Patron. Roleplaying her as thinking the really ugly Half-Dwarf Half-Goblin rogue party member, is actually a spawn of the Great Old One.

My birthday is tomorrow, or if you're in GMT, then it's already the 30th.
At this point, I'm surprised I made it this far. There was the Christmas gift of covid, and then late last week I found out a few people at work were out with covid, but thankfully I haven't gotten this run of it... yet.
Alas, the crew decided that I should do a precautionary quarantine, so I'll be spending my day at work and my evening with the cat. I found a birthday cake-flavored protein bar, so I might stick a candle in that and go from there.
Today I apparently ran over a screw in the road. I didn't notice until I had ordered lunch to pick up curbside, and when I was leaving work to get the food I noticed the car was driving funny before I noticed my dashboard light said the tire pressure was low. Despite having numerous good places to pull off near where I work, I instead drove the 5 minutes to get the food I ordered, knowing that it could ruin the rims on the wheels (thankfully, that was fine), but I figured I could eat while waiting for help to arrive. The first guy who came couldn't do much for me, because he couldn't get the tire off to put the spare on, so he called for a tow truck because I might need to be towed. The tow truck guy knew a trick and got the spare on, so I didn't need to be towed, so I was able to drive the car to the shop. Then the guys at the shop were like, "the lug nuts are going to strip," which I knew now for the third time... just do it. So anyway... two new tires, 16 lug nuts, new brakes and rotors,... my guardian angel, who drove out to give me a ride in case I did get towed (can't ride with the tow truck driver because covid), went back to work (albeit from home, after leaving the office) and then left again to pay the bill I racked up. I.... I'm a strong,... independent woman... I could have paid the bill... I'm just going to have to keep Southpaw, it's inevitable, he's too good to me. But anyway... let's just say the ride home was extended a bit, which is fine because it allowed me to enjoy how smooth the ride feels again.
