I'm amused that the game that sirlin hates the most doesn't have a thread here yet.
So hearthstone! What should a poor guy who refuses to spend money like myself be looking at as the next deck he makes a bad replica of? I actually have an okish card pool (I played the game for a little while waaaay back when it first came out) but find myself to be constantly lacking key epic rarity cards due to saving my dust for important legends. I've had the most fun playing a Warlock Zoo deck before standard became a thing and currently a god awful Warrior Control deck. Played against a Warlock Dragon deck the other day that looked fun but I haven't purchased the final wing of the latest Solo Adventure so I'm lacking cards for it.

I've heard that Hunter decks are super easy to make budget versions of, but I wouldn't know anything about specifics. All I know is that everybody knows that the face is the place. Never trade.

Zoolock is still your path to cheapo wins. New cards to use: Darkshire Councilman and Forbidden Ritual, although I've heard that Forbidden Ritual has fallen out of style with the rise of Maelstrom Portal. And once you finish the last wing, some folks are incorporating Malchaezar's Imp and Silverware Golem into Zoolock, gleaning strong value off of Soulfire and Doomguard.

Patch came out. Lots of hits, but still not buffs, which I think is dumb, but whatever.
As far as the nerfs go yogg is destroyed (good for comp, bad for casual, could've had an inbetween).
Charge being hit is another "no combo's evar!" mentality.
The rest make me feel like the game just isn't in a healthy place, because my first thought is just "meh" as I expect a very similar meta shortly (although nothing could ever be as damaging as yogg was...I hope).

I actually like the Charge change! I don't think it's a nerf or a buff, strictly, because while the OTK combo possibility got removed, they actually decided to buff the mana cost of the card, which opens up other possibilities. At 1 mana, it slots into decks that pack Wild Pyromancer. I can see it possibly being useful in Patron Warrior, not just as a way to proc Pyro (and get more Patrons), but also as a way to generate a Patron immediately, like a mini Warsong Commander.
Another possible use pointed out is that you can combo it with a big minion or a utility minion like Sylvanas. Before, 3 mana was a super-steep cost to pay. The only question is whether that's enough of a possible use that you would be okay running Charge, and whether there's more potential uses.
Another way to look at it, outside of the removal of the Worgen OTK deck, is that they removed the +2 attack buff (which is worth between 0 and 1 mana) and reduced the mana cost by 2. That's a pretty sizeable buff, and in terms of existing cards, charge is probably worth more than 1 mana. (Wolfrider has bad stats for a 2-drop, and costs (3), Reckless Rocketeer has 3-drop stats and costs 6, Leeroy has 3-drop stats, generates 1 mana's worth of minions for the opponent, and costs 5.)
By stripping away the attack buff, they let Charge be a really interesting and potentially potent card for board position, thanks to the low mana cost. The only price paid in exchange is the removal of combo potential. I kinda hope they revert the removal of Charge from Arena, to be honest, because it could be a solid Arena card due to the tempo. Being able to dictate board trades on your own terms is a pretty strong effect.

I got bored playing a zoo deck after they introduced standard and I lost implsosion + knife juggler. Maybe I'll try it again because I'm sure any deck lists I find for it aren't using anything I don't have.
I think this set of nerfs seems ok but I'm kinda sad about the execute nerf if only because I don't have shield slams for my control warrior deck . . . Not sure if I should craft those or another important legendary next.
What decks are you people running atm that are your most enjoyable ones?

Shield Slam has to be one of the cards that irritates me the most about the payment model. They're such a good card; ridiculously good. 1 mana for at least 2 damage, and usually way more. That's so good! Unfortunately they're epics or whatever so you have to find them or craft them or you're stuck with inferior options. Except Warrior doesn't really have anything to replace them. It irks me. I really wanted to play Warrior, but I couldn't, because I don't have Shield Slams. I'd just be making a mediocre deck without them.

Non-control Warrior doesn't need Shield Slam, but then again the Execute nerf is going to make playing non-Control Warrior much harder.

I've been playing an okish control warrior without shield slams for a while. I even have the dust to make myself shield slams but I'm torn between making a deck I enjoy better and trying to make another deck I enjoy. I'd really like to have a deck I enjoy for at least half the classes . . .
