I wanted to have a clever name for this tournament but I couldn't think of anything concise enough. It's Our Party And We'll Defect If We Want To captures the spirit but is just too many damned words. Anywho, I have never run a tournament before so this might get a little bit bumpy. Just bring a flask and your favorite booze and that should sand down the rough edges. LogisticsTournament DetailsDouble Elimination Medium Timer Best of 7 Double-blind for the first match and standard counterpick for subsequent rounds Double KO counts as nothing and the same match should be replayed. Scheduling/Timing
The tournament will commence on October 3rd unless people would prefer that I allow more time for signups. Play one match per week. I will send the scheduling conversation to both participants. In my own matches, I will involve another party in my conversations for transparency reasons. mysticjuicer and @diemydarling seem like good choices. HINT HINT. Extensions: As someone who has an obnoxious schedule, I empathize with the potential need for extensions and will evaluate on case-by-case basis. In light of that, I respond most favorably to people who take the time to communicate their schedules/obstacles.
Challonge Bracket: challonge.com/msskickoff I thought for certain that because I have 18 participants, I was going to have 2 byes, but, instead, Challonge gave me 14 byes. If someone knows how to alter that in the future or can explain to me why it can't be altered, I would appreciate it. At any rate, I'm not cool enough for predictions. Gotta learn some more stuff.

I'm down to play and also to be assistant-co-TO. I found that while running 19XX co-TOs basically didn't really need to be "CC'd" on scheduling conversations. If I had to do it over again, I would probably set up the conversations with just myself and the participants, and only add the co-TOs when a judgement call had to be made. That said, I don't know if the private messaging software on this forum allows for it.
Oh and obviously include a co-TO on any scheduling matches that are between yourself and your opponent, just for transparancy/non-shenanigans reasons.

copper8642 I'm assuming that your post means you're in for the tournament so let me know if I've misinterpreted you. Attilian and thehug0naut I appreciate your compliments and I am definitely not beginning to think of you as my adoring public.

Oh! One thing I forgot to mention, but that I feel significantly improved the 19XX tournament play time once I implemented it, is to give winner's bracket the full one week deadline, always. However, for losers bracket, as soon as a match is completed and a new one can be played, immediately start the conversation with the participants, and give them a deadline.
Example: Let's say it's Sunday deadlines. It's Monday, and Midori and Menelker have received their scheduling convo. They play on Wednesday, and Menelker wins. It turns out that Grave is his next opponent. Immediately send out a scheduling convo to Menelker and Grave, with a deadline of the Sunday after next (so they have this week + next week to play their match).
This means that sometimes losers bracket players will play more than one match per week, but it also (1) keeps losers bracket moving at a reasonable pace, and (2) still allows for a minimum of 1 week for those matches to be scheduled and played.
