I was going to report the match, I swear! I just had to wait until the morning since the library was closed and I didn't want to write my usual dissertation on the matches outside! First Match As you'll see when I get around to uploading the recording I made, I was actually worried about Valerie coming out. I figure it's pretty GD well known that I play Quince and Gwen and Valerie spits on both of those characters before painting them into the ground. Furthermore, I know Señor juicer has a Valerie so I thought she was maybe gonna make an appearance! I was happy that she did not. But not too happy. I feel better about Quince versus Grave but I have still typically not done well in this matchup. Anywho, I felt pretty comfortable for the most part. I typically tried to attack very little so as to not activate Knowing The Opponent. However, early on, I burned through 3 of my 2 Truths so I knew I had to be a bit more conservative with my cards since I now had far fewer opportunities to recur them. Speaking of which, mysticjuicer totally scammed me on my J spins! He was correct every time and I was like . I also didn't draw a King until damn near the end of the game where I realized why I hadn't seen Grave's 7 or 8 throws come out. I probably could have leveraged that a bit more by being more cognizant of it but you live and learn, amirite?! Near the end of the game, I learned that lying is fundamental. I use K Spin and then punched out his throw with some Righteous Zeal! He face downs and I respect it. I spin K again and this time I play Consent of the Governed for the win! Second Match One of my dreaded nemeses comes out to ruin my day! Anyone who pays any attention to my Yomi matches (bless the both of you) will know that I struggle against Troq and Zane (WHAT GREAT CHARACTERS TO STRUGGLE WITH IN THIS 20XX META). The match went about how I expected. Troq wins combats and I struggle under the morass of my own anxiety! Near the end I start to make a small comeback but then it was doused by sneaky Troq plays! I find I often get a little too impatient against Troq which is one of the reasons I ran into the Eagle Totem near the end of the game. OOPS. Also, I would like to note that my opening hand had no face cards or Aces and I didn't see any for quite some time so that made me especially predictable I think. I was trying to get cards and not let Beast Unleashed be a thing. On the plus side, I did, in fact, prevent Beast Unleashed from coming online. Other than that, I got walloped! Third Match I heart playing Geiger. I think he's super fun and he conveniently counterpicks Troq. I get into this and I'm feeling good, I know I have to navigate properly so as not to give Troq any attacks blocks but also not let him throw me too much. I need cards, after all. It's a bit rocky in the beginning but I begin to get some rhythm and even things back out. We're trading blows and whittling each other down and then I have the hand I need so I create a Temporal Distortion. I drop the clock, if you will. Alas, the clock falls and shatters on the ground because Eagle Totems is a good move, as it turns out. I'm a little fuzzy on how this match ends exactly but I want to say I get hit with Eagle Totem again during TD and then finished off with an Up Hawk? Either way, mysticjuicer had my number and closed the match out without dropping any spaghetti or getting juice on his monastic robes! Fourth Match This is the match where Geiger does fun things. I start off with a pretty strong hand and it just goes up from there. Eventually I have all 4 aces, 3 queens, and 2 jacks. I've taken some hits to get here but I've mostly been able to build a hand. However, mysticjuicer has done the same damned thing so now I've gotta be worried. I put up TD and I believe I get punched on the mouth with another Eagle Totem. I put up TD again and this time I block a damn Eagle Totem. I try to throw and I get hit with Up Hawk, I believe. I put up TD again and I throw his dodge. I was ecstatic. He plays a face down Joker. I play right into it because TD will save me. I'm certain of it. I don't do the math but I'm pretty sure everything's gonna go my way. Throw into TSH, TSH, Q, Q, Q, J, J does 89 damage which was exactly enough to kill Troq and eke out a victory. This match was pretty wild to me! Fifth Match I've played this match twice before, winning and losing in equal measure. I don't feel worried about it, but I know I have to play cleanly because Geiger's endgame is significantly weaker against Onimaru thanks to Final Authority. Furthermore, getting to the endgame is harder because building a hand isn't so easy against Onimaru's Guard Crush. I lead with a Flash Gear because, the way I see it, Flash Gear becomes less potent as the game goes on and Onimaru builds the hand he wants, which is likely to include dodges and face cards backed with FA. Additionally, I feel that most Onimaru players open with Ace or a Guard Crush attempt with a sprinkling of blocks. I didn't want to run into the block, but I figure that it shows that I mean business even if I do. I happen to catch a cheeky throw instead! I wouldn't dare to tempt fate against Onimaru's mighty Guard Crush (Okay, okay, you know I'm lying). We feel each other out, I establish a decent life lead that I eventually lose in one fell swoop. Turns out that Onimaru's tender care is a lot more ten than der. He uses Final Authrowity to catch me dodging TWICE. I DODGE A 3RD TIME and a fully pumped Cycloid Revolution does some work for me, especially since his jokers are gone. I straight up 5 attack because I think he's gonna throw me again. I'm right and then I close out the game. This match was especially fun to me! Sixth Match I see Setsuki and I about lose my mind. I do not enjoy playing against Setsuki except as Quince. I make my peace with this and I say that if I lose this matchup, I know who my counterpick will be. This is not a great way to mosey into the match and it shows. I block for the first 2 turns and catch a 2 and 4 from Setsuki which helps me build hand. I'm feeling good. After this, I'm thinking I should 5 attack so I can cash in on my sweet straight but then I think it's a trick and I'm gonna see a Queen or dodge come out from Setsuki. I'm wrong, she throws me with a goddamned 10 and then combos into Surprise Gift. OUCH. I believe I lose the next few combats and I'm down pretty significantly on life. I've been thrown on the first Speed of the Fox turn because I was too cowardly to attack into a possible dodge. I have Cycloid Revolution in my hand and I decide to use it on the second Speed of the Fox turn. I catch another throw and do some sweet damage. After that I power up for Cycloid again and fire it off. I catch a normal and do another 20 damage. Our life totals are now much more even. At this point, I believe I power up for Cycloid again and then we each dodge. I power up for another Ace and then I throw Setsuki's block into a Flash Gear. I figure the speed is normally pretty good but I really don't want it to be undercut with Ninpo Flash. Furthermore, Setsuki doesn't have a lot of life so I just want to get her down as quickly as possible. Due to my draws and powering up, my hand is pretty face up. I've got 3 aces and a mystery card (another Flash Gear). I shoot Cycloid at Setsuki's block and I can live with that. She's now under 10 meaning that Flash Gear will be deadly if it hits. I use Research and Development to look at the top of my deck and I arrange for a joker to come and live with me. Now I'm 100% in for playing Flash Gear because even if I get outsped by Ninpo Flash, I can joker the damage. I hit Flash Gear, win the game, and close out the set! GGs to the fabulous mysticjuicer

I think I'd powered up 3 of my 8s in the early/mid-game. Which is why I went so hard on the 7-throws in the endgame - the last throw was literally the last of the 7s and 8s in my deck, I'm pretty sure. Y U NO LOOK AT MY DISCARD AND BE FOOLED INTO HONESTY!

Scymrian > Southpaw Hare 4-2 Onimaru < Rook Geiger > Rook Geiger < Gloria Zane > Gloria Zane > Rook Zane > Vendetta After feeling mightily spanked in g1, I pulled the Geiger counterpick despite the fact that I don't really feel comfortable with it yet, picking up a W when I puked out on a TD turn without doing the math to see if it were lethal - I figured my hand was playable even if he survived and I just didn't feel like doing the arithmetic. The Geiger/Gloria game was very close, but I ended up on the wrong end of it, and it became time to do Zane Things, handily winning the CP, Anarchy-ing Rook for the Maximum, and inching out Vendetta through a few Acros. All in all, a fairly enjoyable set, avenging my brothers-in-arms. Thank you very much for the games again, SPH! YiFF STILL IN THIS WE'RE BRINGING IT HOME

I'm doing the best I can! I record all of mine, at least! Looks to me like OTHER people should advertise when their matches are so that other people can witness and possibly record them! Or like the players themselves should record them. HINT HINT. Hehehehe.

FraaOrolo vs thehug0naut << >> << >> That awkward moment when you just win combat with attack after attack with minimal followup for the first bunch of turns. Then you normal into AA a couple times before attacking the rest of the way to victory << >> I played AA with no 10 backup at 18 health! but it was because even if it failed Rook would still die to hex the next turn while I jokered. >> Maybe checkmate AA with 10 backup hits the second joker! solid win situation becomes a 50/50 cause I can't power back up but I do guess right. Good Games! This was a crazy set. Most of my wins were by the skin of my teeth and I'm still feeling it. Side note, I'm in grand finals! This is a first for me, all it took was yomi dying

This is a first for me, all it took was yomi dying That was one of the most enjoyable sets I've ever played in a tournament! Extra notable because I enjoyed it that much despite losing! I |*did* get a touch of throw-nnel vision in game 4 but thankfully game 5 was essentially "smite fish" so I made up for it The final game was a fantastic end to an amazing set. The miracle whirlpool escape joker was one of the hypest moments - it took all my self control not to windmill slam that card down the second I drew it! A hard fought victory for the fish this day, but with some luck the rock shall return from losers to dam the river

Tonight at 6:00 P.M. CDT/7:00 P.M. EDT I will fight @lettucemode and it will be some kind of a clash. My sharp edges will probably cut into his leafy defenses. That or we'll find that all of my angles are blunt as fuck. Either way, come and #witness the magic!

scymrian > flagrantangles 4-2 zane > quince zane > quince zane > geiger zane < quince zane < quince zane > quince
Unfortunately, doesn't look like either of us is gettin' ourselves a modship off the back of this one! most interesting moment from my perspective was probably game 5, when flag managed to out-scoop me infinite times, and then I ran out of throws while on my back for the last turn, so I threw out a hail-mary MA that got dodged. I was dead to a wrong guess on the dodge/odd mixup, and guess wrong I did!
ggs to flag who did much better than the first time around! Now, I gotta revenge myself against Hug0!

thehug0naut vs scymrian >> >> >> Yes. This happened. I am still buzzing about it I mostly followed the advice of Rooks favourite nursery rhyme "throw, block, throw some more, keep him on 6 cards". The one time I let him block successfully was in game 2. When he got TD up I threw him again, which sounds more dangerous than it was, since I was almost certain he couldn't kill my 59HP in one go. >> A great Rook v Oni battle. 10s confirmed painful. 7 vs 7 confirmed FOOTSIES. Also I very nearly threw this match away when I COMPLETELY MISREAD MY CARD SUITS I could almost hear mysticjuicer tut-tut-tutting. Thankfully stealth drawn Wall of Vines is a ridiculously good move. thehug0naut 4-0 scymrian thehug0naut wins! The score here does not reflect the tense feel of the matches friend. As always you were fab to play against!
