ExSeth 4-1 over Snoc This was a fun match. I did my best to make the hardest reads and managed to come out ahead. The matches all felt pretty close, and I'm pretty sure we even clashed Consent of the Governed at one point. Snoc recorded the match, and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets it uploaded in the near future. The games have been good, and I've somehow managed to claw my way through to the finals. A lot of serious contenders are still floating around in the lower bracket, of course, and I'll be quietly spinning in circles here while I watch the rest of the matches play out.

GGs ExSeth! I really didn't feel in control at all for this, one of those sets where you just seem to lose every combat. Well played and good luck in the finals, when the lower bracket finally catches up! (HINT HINT LOWER BRACKET PLAYERS)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
mysticjuicer 4 - 3 flagrantangles
I won the first two, and the second I began to feel myself, flagrantangles poked me in the eye, stomped on my toes and took 3 straight before I could steal two games from him by the narrowest of margins to take the set
ggs flagrantangles, I hope we don't meet again in tournament for a while because MY HEART NEEDS A REST

I like to give people the first two games so I can devastate them emotionally, but then you FLIPPED THE SCRIPT.

Right folks, many apologies for spotty TOing and general availability over the holiday period. I am pretty much back now, and I'm pleased to see scheduling apace already for the Great Commonwealth Quince Showdown between Bomber678 and mysticjuicer, so thanks for that guys. I'll get this thing back on track and finished up ASAP!

Good set Bomber. I feel bad that I let that lead get away from me, but that's a lesson I've needed to learn for a while. ggs wp

I'm pretty excited that we're down to the top 3. Two months of spinning, winning, and getting away with the wonkiest of plays has led us here! Whose lies will become the truth? Who will walk away a champion? How long can my strategy of "Draw all the best cards when I need them" keep me alive? The answers to these questions and more are right at our fingertips! And I, for one, can't wait to find out.

I'm pretty ready for this. I should probably cut a sick promo, but I haven't practiced those combos yet. In any case, good luck, I'll see you inside the whirlpool.

ExSeth 4 - 3 over Snoc This was a really close set, with the appropriate amount of shenanigans and tomfoolery for a Quince Mirror Finals. Highlights of the match include: Snoc losing power near the conclusion of the first game, spinning INTO trouble with a K, a Turn-1 Patriot Mirror clash, and some of the most nailbiting Yomi I've ever had the chance to play. Special thanks to snoc for hosting this tourney, as well as the lovely co-TO mysticjuicer , and of course all my fellow Quinces for giving the Single Character Showdown Series the kind of kickoff we can write home about. I'm looking forward to the next tournament, where I hope to get bopped soundly in the first round. Here's to more Yomi in all of our futures!

Thanks and congratulations to our winner ExSeth, and thanks to everyone who's taken part! I am a bit sad to have lost that, but I'm glad we got a full 7 games in. Sadly the power cut trashed the first 15 minutes of footage, but the rest is uploading as we speak and I'll link to it when it's done. So any feedback for me as a TO? I know I went a bit AWOL over the holiday period, but I'm pleased to see it all hang together anyway. I'll take a week or two to catch my senses, then draw the next character and open signups for the next one!

Gratz to ExSeth! wp to snoc getting runner up. I didn't expect this mirror to be all that interesting, but I had a lot of fun and found the match-up really fun and interesting to play! I was going to suggest making sets first to three instead of first to four, but honestly this is probably one of the longer mirror matches, and it didn't get egregious. If we get 8 players or less, could we do round-robin instead of double-elim? At least to determine top 2 or something?

If we get 8 players or less, could we do round-robin instead of double-elim? At least to determine top 2 or something? Yeah, RR is a good call. It'll depend on how many signups of course, but I think in pretty much every way other than the number of matches that need to be played, it's the best format. Swiss is worth a thought, as an approximation to RR when there are too many players to make it feasible, but the tricky situation of tie-breaks and the requirement of an absolutely iron fist wrt timekeeping put me off it a little.
