[X-posted on Sirloin Games forums]
So, I've been toying with the idea of hosting a single day tournament, and I wanted to gauge whether people would be interested in the event if I were to go through with it.
Great Grappler Showdown Three grapplers enter... Three grapplers also leave? This would single-day conquest-style* tournament where every person's three character stable is Midori, Rook, and Troq.
*Conquest-style means that each player has a "stable" of characters to choose from. In each set, once you win with a given character, you can no longer use that character for the rest of the set. You win the set once you have won a game with each character in your stable.
Details: * Only Midori, Rook, and Troq may be played * First to 3 * Single Elim (Seems necessary for a one day tourney?) * Double Blind pick each round but you cannot select a character you have already won a game with in the set * Fast Timer * Double KO means you replay MU
Thoughts? I'm open to changing any of the specifics I'm also curious to know what times are considered EU-friendly times to hold a day tourney.

I don't think Conquest is required, but would be interested if its one day.

I don't think Conquest is required, but would be interested if its one day. I know that it probably would have worked in standard CP but I made it conquest because: 1. I personally really enjoyed the format in the Yomi Olympics. 2. Thematically I like the idea that you have to perform well with every grappler to win. 3. I'm secretly trying to inflate Midori's tourney use numbers.

I'm amused by point 3.
Also it would provide interesting data by fleshing out all the grappler vs grappler MUs with more data points so we could argue about them some more!

I was thinking the other day that a grappler tourney would be a fun thing to do - then lo and behold a wild Zqxx up and suggests one! Time-wise, I think for max participation across EU and US you would want to look at the weekend, with a probable timeslot of 6pm-12am GMT (10am-4pm PST and 1pm-7pm EST). For continental Europe this would be 7pm-1am CET (or 8pm-2am EET - but do we have anyone from Finland or the Baltics?) so its rather nice there too. I guess starting a few hours later wouldnt matter too much on a Saturday, but on a Sunday a later kick off might be pushing it, depending on the numbers involved.

This sounds like it could be a neat tournament experience, though if it happens and I don't see at least three separate instances of super throws clashing, I'm going to be a little disappointed.

Due to positive reception, I WILL be doing this tournament in the very near future! Just need to decide which upcoming weekend. Keep your eyes out for the official tournament post!
