Willa senses this is her moment to put her words to good use, and steps out from amongst her companions.
"If I may, honoured Galtra, I should point out that I am no warrior. I am a bard, from the house of Seeker, accompanying these adventurers on their quest so that I may sing the songs of what befalls them. I have a sword and bow, as needs must one who would travel dangerous lands, but my calling is not to fight. Those with me are more trained in the arts of combat, but we thought it necessary to bring those who could defend themselves, since no outside traveller has returned from these lands these last two years. Our main purpose here is to find out what has happened, and to re-establish contact between what is left of Redshore and the surrounding lands. How can we get you to send a diplomatic envoy to the Lord of Erevan? Opening trade links to the surrounding area will bring benefits for you as well as others, and it would be good for people of the area to be able to pass through the forest again."

You see, this city is merely the beginning. It's taken quite some time - the rituals involved are quite complex and tempermental - but soon... we will be expanding." Her excitement is accentuated by a wicked smile. "Once we have formed a proper nation, I'll be more than happy to speak with my fellow monarchs... as I am certain they will be toward me." Softly but openly, she begins to laugh aloud; the cultist beside her joins in even more vigorously, as if to show his undying support. "Tell me, bard. Are you afraid? In over your pretty little head?" ( "What are you really feeling right now?")

Are there things more dangerous than gnomes here that we should be afraid of?"

In over your pretty little head?" ( "What are you really feeling right now?") "I won't lie, the decor and general atmosphere is not to my taste, but I I trust the fighting prowess of my companions to keep me safe. I have come to terms with the fact that to see acts worthy of a song for the ages I will have to expose myself to danger. Should I be more afraid? Are there things more dangerous than gnomes here that we should be afraid of?" Galtra's nefarious grin widens. "My dear, things are as dangerous here as I wish to imagine them to be! Perhaps I should give you a demonstration in order to drive home this point." She turns to the cultist beside her, signalling for him to prepare himself. "It is time, fellow servant of Cordycia. You shall have the honor of receiving the blessing of a true warrior." The other gnome kneels humbly, ready for whatever divine gift he is about to receive. Galtra begins to chant, immediately causing a dazzling display of light and wind to spiral around the two gnomes and envelop the soon-to-be-blessed. With a sickening pop, his muscles begin to bulge, large ripples of flesh jutting out from all over his body. He quickly starts growing in size; double his original stature... no, triple... nay, even more! As his size increases, his skin changes from its deep gray to pale, flaky white. His head forms into a bulbous, brown mass equipped with a brim that extends far outward behold his brow. When the spell's magics have finally faded, the creature before you is no longer even remotely recognizable as the deep gnome it started as - it is, however, extraordinarily intimidating. Standing 9-feet-tall - fitting comfortably in the room only due to its modified structure - it appears as a sort of humanoid mushroom-man. Its limbs are made of thick, white stalks set into still-manlike biceps; its head balances a huge mushroom cap. What was once the crossbow it held in its hands as a gnome has transformed along with it, growing and fusing to its arm - it is now just short of a ballista, grafted to its flesh and loaded with a bolt the size of a tree branch. The creature lets out a roar that shakes the contents of the room. It is readying to charge and fight. Adventurers, what to you do?

Ahmvvar: No more needless words. Bargaining with these abominable small folk has brought only ruin!
Seeing the priestess Galtra as the source of the threat, Ahmvvar makes an impressive leap toward her. His spear spins between his hands above his head and swoops down blade first toward the tiny witch's neck/shoulder area.

The initial thrust pierces deep into its arm, and with speed and grace, you are able to sweep it around in a spinning motion for several more strikes that the beast-gnome cannot block. It bellows in pain as it oozes a vaguely blood-like substance. Damage from Fungignome = d10 + 3 - armor = 9 + 3 - 1 = 11Not yet beaten, however, the monster surprises you with its strength and speed. Its leg comes crashing into you, impacting you with a force the likes of which you've never felt before. You're launched off of your feet, punted a good 10 feet backward, before crashing into a line of pews - the weak wooden furniture shatters underneath you. Stunned and in pain, you lay sprawled among the wreckage and take a moment to collect your wits; you're certain some of your bones have been broken, but with the blanket ache across your whole form, you can not determine exactly which ones.

Ahmvvar lurches to his feet, supporting himself of some of the furtinure debris and takes a few steps back toward the party clutching his side.
Ahmvvar: Well... I -hrrr- tried. Any other plans?

(I did not based the character off of any person, real or fictional, and am not attempting to necessarily depict the philosophy of Objectivism. However, you're free to interpret them as you see fit.)

Ahmvvar gazes at his companions for a moment, all of whom seem to still be trying to make sense of the bizzare spectacle before them.
Ahmvvar: Alright... well enough...back into the fray
Despite his injury, Ahmvvar turns to the fungignome once more. Though staggering slightly from broken bones he picks up speed and reels back for a running stab to the monster's skull-area.

It was virtually nearly max damage, i.e. 9 on a d10. I'd recommend that, honestly.)

Keep in mind, this thing could destroy you in another exchange, and your allies are in better shape at the moment. Allies, do you wish to aid your comrade-in-arms?

# of Snake-eyes = 1 # of Boxcars = 4Roll + INT = 2 + 5 + 2 = 9Damage - Armor = 2 + 3 - 2 = 3Lezard, the energy pulses rip into the creature's flesh, causing it to howl aloud. Unfortunately, the origin of the attack did not at all escape its notice; it levels its over-sized crossbow-arm directly at you, preparing to fire (at least you assume, since you have no idea how its trigger mechanism works now that it has fused with its body). What do you do?

# of Snake-eyes = 1 # of Boxcars = 4Roll + DEX = 1 + 4 + 0 = 5Damage from Fungignome = d10 + 3 - armor = 7 + 3 - 0 = 10Lezard, the creature aims and fires with speed and fury, giving you no time to successfully dodge. The large pole of a bolt shoots fully through your right thigh, doing tremendous damage and leaving a gaping hole where a piece of your leg once was. The pain is blinding, and the sight not pretty. You manage to hold yourself together for the moment through sheer willpower alone, though you know you cannot withstand another blow such as that - at least not without some magical healing in-between. Galtra watches on for a time, reveling in the carnage and believing the fight to be going well in her favor. Then, prying herself away, she begins to back away toward a door in the rear of the room. "Well, it's been a pleasure introducing you to the splendors of our city, but I think I'll take my leave!" With that, she turns and begins to run, perhaps not entirely as confident as she lets on, but certainly more safe than sorry. She is nearly to the door, and will escape without intervention, though the monster's imposing form covers many conventional methods of stopping her. Combat continues and Galtra begins to escape. Adventurers, what do you do?

(What is the appropriate action to seize an enemy?) (You could argue a few different methods, I suppose. What I'd probably go with most strongly is doing a Hack and Slash with the specific mention of seeking to disable or knockdown instead of dealing damage.)

(sorry for being unresponsive over the winter break. I should be more or less fully back now; hopefully others are also still keen to pick this up again!)
Despite his disagreableness, Willa recognises the need to keep Lezard alive, and launches into a song known only to those of Seeker blood, and even then only to the ones who have spent a not-inconsiderable amount of time studying the song-scrolls of their great library. Still, she knows it well enough, and there is some magic woven into the notes to restore vital power to those who need it.
