Hadrian snaps his arm up, bringing his shield into line between his upper body and the crossbow bolt, and braces it against his shoulder.

Ahmvvar, in an attempt to defend Garm, you whirl your spear into the path of the bolt. Roll + CON = 3 + 3 + 1 = 7Damage = d6 + 1 - Armor = 5 + 1 - 1 = 5You make contact with the projectile as it flies by, but unfortunately, the angle deflection combined with stepping in front of the intended target only leads to yourself being struck instead. The bolt pierces your side, causing you significant pain. Hadrian, you lift your shield in an attempt to block the oncoming fire. Roll + CON = 4 + 6 + 1 = 11The bolt impacts with a tiny tink, then bounces to the floor in two separate pieces, snapped like a twig under its own force. The Gnomes watch for the results of their attacks in anticipation and excitement, which quickly sours, as though they had expected their two bolts to instantly defeat all five of you. They then each duck into their respective doorways, hauling their too-large and now unloaded crossbows with them. What do you do?

"What were those deformities? Could they be related to the fungus or the general evil that has befallen this poor town? One of these rooms must hold some clue!" Willa's curiosity and hunger for a story gets the better of her and she follows the male gnome into the room just up ahead. She does at least have the presence of mind to draw her shortsword, but it'd probably be more useful to her as a tool to poke through slimy mould than actually to fight with... The room beyond the doorway, though still dark and somewhat creepy, is at least obvious in purpose. Several simple beds, as well as a few stone tabletops carrying trinkets and piles of the brown robes worn by the Gnomes, mark it as quarters of spartan* design. The setup adds further credence to the thought that its occupants are some sort of priests or clergy, however depraved their religion may happen to be. The Gnome wastes no time in drawing a tiny dagger from his side, barking out a few short words in his own language. What do you do?
[For Clarity, here is my interpretation of the map so far:]
[*The use of this word in no way implies the existence of Sparta in this world's history.]

"He'll pay for that, Ahmvvar!" Garm ducks under Ahmmvar's spear and charges the rear gnome (? Melty ?), his sword held straight in front of him like a lance ready to skewer the thing. (Garm is going to attempt to Hack and Slash Melty if he can reach it. If not, he's going to turn the corner into the room, ready to fight.) [ Caphriel do you have the link to the full Blademaster class? I can only find the pastebin I linked on page 2, which is not the most updated]

Damage = d8+2 = 6 + 2 = 8The result is predictable when small assailants meet such a large sword with their face. The female Gnome is nearly cleaved in half, giving out only the briefest cry of shock before expiring. The room which you've so efficiently soiled with blood probably isn't that much worse off for it. Being some sort of small kitchen and dining area, all of food here seems diseased and blatantly inedible. Plates piled with food that seemed still in the process of being devoured at your arrival seems to suggest that the current residence simply don't care about such trivial issues as health and sanitation. You have to double-check the corpse at your feet to make sure you're actually dealing with a Gnome as opposed to a Goblin, though you are fairly sure that is the case.

Ahmvvar: Agh! Cursed little beasts..
Ahmvvar wrenches the bolt from his side, tests its edge with his thumb and drops in into his satchel.
Ahmvvar (Interior monologue): This may prove useful...
Ahmvvar: Hadrian, we should follow after Willa. She may have already found trouble.

Garm looks down at the corpse of the Gnome and then around the room filled with putrid food.
"How could anything living survive like this? Is this even blood?"
He spends the next few moments carefully examining the body of the Gnome and the rotting food for answers.
(Garm is attempting to Discern Realities about the condition of the gnomes.
Question 1: "What here is not what it appears to be?" Question 2: "What has happened here recently?" Question 3: "What is about to happen?")

Roll + WIS = 5 + 1 - 1 = 5Garm, you are just beginning to analyze the situation when, off to your left, the window explodes into large, sharp fragments, and the forms of the hounds fall through. Immediately, one falls dead at your feet, having disemboweled itself on the remains of the window it had hurled itself through, its blood flowing down the windowsill. The other two climb to their feet, having apparently made it through in one piece each. Unphased by the lost of their companion, they prepare to set upon you. What do you do?

[Discern realities requires more than just thinking. You have to actually do some sort of investigation. Whether that's talking to people, exploring a room, or closely examining something. It requires roleplay of some sort as well as something to actually go on. You can't discern realities from nothing.]
Hoping that these creatures still retain some semblance of their animal nature, and concluding that fighting them would be too dangerous, Garm quickly grabs a nearby chunk of diseased meat and throws it between the pair of hounds. Relying on the meat to distract the things, he wastes no time in enacting his plan; He kicks over the large, round table that held the disgusting banquet.
"I hope this table is as sturdy as the rest of this place."
Using all of his might, he lifts the table and carries it with him. Keeping the heavy piece of wood situated between himself and the hounds, Garm backs out of the room into the hallway with the others. When reaching the threshold, he tries to lodge the table in the doorway, trapping the hounds in the kitchen.

Meanwhile, in the dormitory, it seems that Willa is going to have to defend herself. She hopes that her height and reach advantage over the Gnome counts in favour, but this is the sort of situation that she really should have learned not to put herself in by now. Luckily she has some experience of fighting and sparring from previous adventures, and hopefully that will get her through this fight mostly unharmed.

Roll + INT = 1 + 5 + 2 = 8Lezard, you begin to realize that the language the the Gnomes are speaking, while largely unfamiliar to you, has enough roots in other more ancient ones that you can pick out some meaning. Thinking back on what they have already said, you believe that the initial Deep Gnome you encountered - the one with the lumpy eye, who ran off and disappeared - may have said something about "getting help" and "Supreme Leader". Going after them may reveal more of what you seek; or perhaps, it will find you sooner than later. Roll + INT = 5 + 3 + 0 = 8Garm, you toss the meat into the pack of wolves, causing them to look in momentary interest, just long enough to work as a distraction as intended. You then kick over the table, but, oh dear... either the table was of a lightweight wood, or you just don't know your own strength; it goes flying across the room, far out of your reach and knocks into the wolves themselves. They seem unharmed, though momentarily stunned. Roll + STR = 4 + 6 - 1 = 9Damage (Willa to Gnome) = d6 = 1Damage (Gnome to Willa) = d6 - Armor = 2 - 1 = 1Willa, you square off against the Gnome, blade-on-blade. Each of you is hesitant and cautious, unwilling to get within range of the other. Just as you attempt to abuse your apparent advantage of reach, the Gnome surprises you with a thrust of his own, leading both of you to get stabbed about the chest in the exchange. At the very least, you believe that you came out ahead on that trade. [For the record, the Gnome names I gave are obviously not their real names. They're just amusing placeholders.]

Garm let's out a large, heaving sigh as the table goes flying across the room. He slowly picks up his bloody sword with both hands.
"I suppose it can't be helped."
He doesn't hesitate in rushing the closest of the hounds. Approaching in a wide arc and keeping his back to the wall to avoid becoming flanked, he strikes at the hungry maw of the first creature with a sweeping slash.

Hadrian looks between the two warriors and the wizard fighting a pack of mutant dogs, and the room where the Bard vanished. Roll + STR = 3 + 2 + 1 = 6Hadrian, you rush in and engage the Gnome, attacking with skillful swings of your sword. Your footwork, however, ends up being off, not being used to fighting such a small and evasive fighter. He manages to run around your legs, temporarily finding a blind-spot in your ability to strike at him. Using you as cover, he takes the opportunity to stab at Willa's leg! Oh dear - it looks as though your attempts at protecting have only acted as a liability to your poor ally. Damage = d6 - Armor = 1 - 1 = 0...Fortunately, he shin-guards of Willa's hardened leathers do their job. The dagger simply glances off.

Roll + STR = 4 + 3 + 2 = 9Garm, the wolf is too fast for you to keep at bay, and manages to rush forward and bite your leg before you can strike it! Damage (Wolf to Garm) = d6 - Armor = 5 - 1 = 4Fortunately, with the animal favoring offense over defense to such an extreme, it leaves itself very vulnerable in the process. As its teeth gnaw on your flesh, it hurts immensely - but at the very least, you know exactly where to swing your sword. Damage (Garm to Wolf) = d8 + 2 - Armor = 8 + 2 - 1 = 9You stab your sword straight through its back, killing it instantly. A moment later, its jaw releases its vice-like grip from your calf, and after one more second, it separates apart into two bloody wolf-pieces, your sword being so wide as to stab it clean in half.

Driving his blade straight through the first wolf's back, the sword lodges firmly into the ground. Garm's weapon becomes a leaning post as he uses it to steady himself and take the strain off of his injured leg. The reprieve is only momentary as he looks to the final wolf just a few feet away.
The blademaster crouch's low, keeping one hand on the stuck sword-post for balance. He prepares for the wolf's charge, ready to use his strength to grab the creature by the throat and throw it on the shattered remains of the window.

Damage (Wolf to Garm) = d6 - Armor = 3 - 1 = 2Garm, with precision and power, you sweep your hand under the wolf's jaw as it approaches, lifting it fully off the ground by the throat. With a heave, you throw it down upon a particularly large shard of broken glass sticking straight up from the window frame. It breaks off into the canine's back, deeply lodged in. The wolf gives little immediate reaction - no yelp of pain or fear - continuing to growl and gnash its teeth. In its frenzy, it manages to bite open another gash in your forearm, causing your blood to flow over both of you. Yet, slowly, as you hold it to the wall by its neck, its ferocity weakens, becoming less and less capable of fighting. It seems barely conscious of the fact that its body is ceasing to work. Finally, and seemingly gently, it stops living; you can feel its breathing cease right underneath your grip.

Garm looks away from the horror of the wolf's death throes within his grip. After the diseased creature has become completely still, he begins the work of dislodging the greatsword from its stuck position in the floor and wipes the gore from the blade using a nearby piece of cloth. Afterwards, he slowly limps back into the hallway where he last saw the others...
[I'm significantly ahead of the other room in terms of time in the story, so I'll let them catch up for a bit before "resolving" returning to the hallway.]

First Snake-Eyes of the game.] Hadrian, as you prepare to engage the Gnome in combat again, you are once more taken off-guard by his actions. He makes it appear as if he is squaring-off with his dagger, when suddenly, without breaking eye-contact, he grabs a large glass flask from a nearby shelf and throws it at the feet of you and Willa. As soon as the glass shatters, flames erupt all around you in an instant! Both of you are burned before you can back away to safety. Damage = d4 (No Armor) = 4With great speed, the Gnome takes no time in retreating back out of the room, just before the fire begins to spread to cover the doorway. Perhaps not safety after all... while the walls of the building are indeed mostly stone, the floorboards are wooden, as is enough interior furniture to give you trouble. Lezard and Ahmvvar, you see the Gnome leave the room that Willa and Hadrian entered, running away down the corridor at full sprint. In his wake is flame and smoke. Adventurers, what do you do?
