Super apologies for an exceedingly delayed turn! I messed up my spreadsheet so had to replay through my turns and with being back at work I was really struggling to get time to do it. Also CURSE THAT IMP! P1T2
{Tech}Circle of Life Gemscout Owl {Starting Hand}Traffic Director Reputable Newsman (Thieved) Manufactured Truth Spectral Aven Lawful Search {In-Turn Draw}Gemscout Owl (Stashed) {Workers}Bluecoat Musketeer Traffic Director {Next Hand}Porkhand Magistrate Reputable Newsman Jail Gemscout Owl Circle of Life {Discard}Lawful Search Building Inspector Spectral Aven Manufactured Truth
Tech 2 card(s) Discard a card (Random.org [1-5]=2) Get Paid - ($5) Bigby conducts a Lawful Search of your hand (I reshuffle and draw then view your hand) - ($4) Building Inspector suicides into Leader Thieving Imp destroying his armour Bigby Hayes kills Leader Imp and takes 2 damage Worker - ($3) Tech I - ($1) Float ($1) Stash 1, Discard 2, draw 4 Board Info:In Patrol:* Squad Leader: * Elite: * Scavenger: * Technician: * Lookout: In Play:* Bigby Hayes (2/1) Buildings:* Base HP: 20 * Tech I HP: 5 Economy Info:Cards:* Hand: 5 * Deck: 1 * Disc: 4 Gold:* Gold: 1 * Workers: 6
{Secret Musings}After seeing his hand I realised that any units I put down were very vulnerable to Sac the Weak and Deteriorate. Traffic director would have been costly to shift (some unit+Sac the Weak) so was a strong value play, but I desperately needed a worker this turn.
On balance I decided that the best counter to his strong unit removal was not to have any units this turn

{Secret Musings}Definitely want more board before I use Circle of life - Sac the Weak is just too strong otherwise. Have leveled up Bigby to encourage Doom Grasp on him over unit killing, and to hide my true intentions.

{Secret Musings}Teched in a Nature Reclaims to deal with Graveyard shenanigans in a couple of turns. My draw was a bit mince (had hoped for 2x Circle of Life or at least Lawful Search for drawing) but hoping my fairly large board can keep him from killing Bigby and my Gemscout Owl this turn to set me up right for a big turn. Maybe not though if Doom Grasp is on the way

{Secret Musings}So I know he has both Tech IIIs ready to go the second I can't kill his building so that was a must kill target. I think he can almost certainly kill off my Newsman next turn which would get his Free Speech up and probably seal my fate. I couldn't find a way to deny him that with his fairly large board as I needed my flyers to kill his tech buildings. My draws for next turn were not kind either

I think my build order is a wee bit off for countering Garth before he builds up a huge board. Black + Necromancy is a super strong early game
|
|
|
Post by fodazd on Jan 19, 2017 13:55:39 GMT 1
Yes, the black starter + Garth is really strong. You can't let me build up a huge mass of Skeletons, or else I will have Skeletal Archery and do tons of damage at Long Range. You can't rely only on a few powerful units, or else I will play Sac the Weak. You can't let me keep Graveyard, or else I will flood the board with cheap units or set up a Thieving Imp loop.
